Challenging Thesis
Thesis Statement:
Home schooling has many advantages over its traditional education
counterpart.
Rewritten Thesis Statement:
Parents who can home school their children should, this will provide a
vastly superior education for their children.
The thesis is a claim of both fact and value.
In the sense of being a fact it can be demonstrated that private,
customized education is superior to a cookie cutter curriculum.
It is also a statement of value in the sense that there are things that
go with an education such a moral upbringing.
The first area that I will use in support of my
thesis will emphasize the private, personalized attention that a
student gets while being home schooled. This allows the parent to
ensure that their child has mastered a topic before proceeding, as well
as not lingering on topics that have already been mastered.
Secondly, I will use in support of my thesis the ease at which the
promotion of a child's interests and passions can be incorporated into
the curriculum to help them learn, as well as, help them enjoy
learning. The third area that I will use in support of my thesis
is the ability for parents to better guide their children in their
moral upbringing through homeschooling, a critical aspect of a child's
education. Finally, in support my thesis I will emphasize the
superior socialization that children get when home schooled, which is
similar to the type of socialization that adults utilize.
