Week 6: Discussion Question 2
The American Indians are once again struggling with the United States
in Cobell v. Norton. Apparently due in large part to negligence
and bad record keeping there is significant evidence that the American
Indians have been defrauded by the Interior Department. This has
cost the trust potentially billions of dollars which the tribes are
seeking to be reclaim. Regardless, this reinforces the negative
relations between the United States government and the American Indian
tribes as the government cannot act as a responsible trustee with their
money and property.
