The most valuable items that helped my “better understand or
relate to minority minority groups” had to do with learning about
their history and culture. First, it was helpful to understand
the ethnic groups history within the United States, their difficulties,
and their successes. Secondarily, it was helpful to see glimpses
of their native culture and how that impacted them within the United
States.

Yes, in doing additional research about Norway I learned many new
things. The most significant was the a better understanding of
the hostility of the Norwegians towards the Swedish. Importantly
how this affected my family when my great grandfather married someone
who was Swedish.

Especially in the Southwest we can expect to see a much larger Hispanic
population. As the Hispanic population grows here they can be
expected to spread into areas where they are virtually nonexistent now.

Americans have demonstrated that they are heavily influenced by the
media, and television in general. The best way to prepare America
for the changing landscape, and the resulting cultures, is for it to be
presented in the news as well as in fictional television. This
will better acclimate Americans to the culture to where is does not
seem foreign and something that needs to be shunned.
