While defense industries do
need to be protected again import competition there is an alternative
to traditional trade restrictions. As a compromise to trade
restrictions the foreign products must be completely manufactured
within the United States. This then removes any political
conflicts of interest during a time of war. Furthermore, it
removes any unfair labor and cost issues with the product being
manufactured outside of the country. Finally, it promotes
competition, as well as jobs, within the local economy which would
benefit everyone.
