Week 2: Discussion Question 2
Grade: 15/15 (When combined with other DQ)
Professor: James Nzokah
The largest effect that Descartes had on 18th and 19th century
philosophy was on Immanuel Kant. Kant rejected Berkley's idealism
as well as the skepticism of Hume (Moore & Bruder, 2005, p.
140). Descartes proof on knowledge, and of assessing objects,
provided a basis from which Kant modified and extended for his
proof. Importantly he continued to hold that space and time due
exist and that provides an initial base for experience.
